The Sri Rudram has 11 anuvakas (passages) of Namakam and 11 anuvakas (passages) of Chamakam. After praying and identifying Rudra with everything in the Namakam, Chamakam is usually recited immediately after, in which the devotee asks Him to bless with the highest. Chamakam depicts the picture of human happiness and defines the highest desires to be asked. Rudram is a hymn offered to the all-pervading Brahman, designated as Rudra-Śiva, present in auspicious, benign forms as well as terrible forms which he assumes at the time of the dissolution.Ĭhamakam on the other hand lists out the blessings that one receives on praying to Lord Rudra. This prayer to Lord Rudra has two parts - the Namakam (verses ending with Nama) and the Chamakam (Verses ending with Cha May). Rudram is the most sacred prayer-chant to worship Lord Siva. The Sri Rudram is from Krishna Yajur Veda in the Taithireeya Samhita in the fourth and seventh chapters. Dedicated chanting of Ganpati Atharvashirsha removes all obstacles, sorrow and distress and provides happiness, prosperity and material benefits. It describes Sri Ganesha as summom bonum of entire creation. It is an Upanishadic text which is describes the magnificence of Lord Ganesha.
